Manchester City to be relegated to League one

The potential sanctions include two main scenarios:

  • Points Deduction: A severe deduction could drop Manchester City into the bottom three, resulting in automatic relegation to the Championship.

  • Expulsion: Premier League clubs could vote to expel the club, which would require 15 of 20 clubs to vote in favour. If expelled, the club would have to apply for re-entry to the English Football League (EFL), which may refuse admission or force the club to start in League Two or the National League.

While the final decision rests with a three-person panel that will hear arguments from both sides, betting odds and prediction markets currently reflect a high probability of relegation, with some markets pricing the event at 3/1. The club has appealed the guilty verdict, meaning the legal battle could extend into 2027, but the mood among rivals and fans strongly favours

a punishment that keeps Manchester City out of the top flight for multiple seasons.
